Trade Union Recognition Board non-functional

The GAWU must also use this opportunity to express its concern regarding the functioning of the TURCB. For two (2) months now, no meetings have been convened owing to the absence of the Chairperson, retired Justice Claudette La Bennett. We have learnt that the chairperson is ill thus rendering the board non-functional. Our Union believes that in the absence of the chairperson, the Minister of Social Protection ought to address this matter. Here, the Trade Union Recognition Act spells out what intervention is required by the Minister. We hope that action could be taken bearing in mind the several outstanding matters currently requiring the Board’s attention.
