As October comes to a close, the Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) Women’s Group is pleased to have joined the global campaign to heighten awareness about breast cancer. Through messages of support, encouragement, and empowerment, the GAWU remains committed to supporting the cause and raising awareness about breast cancer in the community.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a significant time that brings us together to fight against a common enemy that affects millions of people worldwide. In Guyana, we recognise the impact of breast cancer on our loved ones and colleagues. The GAWU Women’s Group emphasises the importance of education, early detection, and support in the battle against this formidable foe.

Breast cancer is a disease that does not discriminate and has far-reaching effects that are felt in every community. We wish to express our support to those who have fought or are currently fighting breast cancer, as well as to the loved ones who are supporting them. We recognise the strength, resilience, and bravery of survivors and pay tribute to those who have lost their lives to this disease.

Education is one of the most effective tools in the fight against breast cancer, and we believe that every individual should prioritise regular screenings and self-examinations. The GAWU Women’s Group encourages our members and the wider community to seek knowledge about breast cancer and its early detection. By increasing awareness about the disease and its risk factors, we can work towards reducing the impact it has on our lives and the lives of those around us. Early detection is critical to the successful treatment of breast cancer, and we want to empower everyone with the information they need to take charge of their health.

Breast cancer is a difficult journey, and it’s essential to have support along the way. The GAWU Women’s Group is here to extend a helping hand to anyone who needs it. We understand the challenges faced by individuals and families affected by this disease, and we’re committed to offering support, encouragement, and resources to help you through it.

As we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month, let’s unite as a community to raise awareness, share information, and support each other. The GAWU Women’s Group is dedicated to advocating for resources, awareness programs, and policies that promote the well-being of those affected by breast cancer as we urge awareness and education year-round.
